Eòlas air Euslaint Dhaoine: Pàirt 4 (Eòlas a' Bheum-Shùla)
Posted by Calum on 24th February, 2022
We have been looking at The Evil Eye and charms against them, as is clear to you now, and there are more charms this weeks. There are other charms that are more personal and that have come from women that had their own charm, or who were aware of charms and spells already.1. “Eòlas Bheim Shùl le Nic Aoidh”“Paidir a h’ aon, Paidir a dhà,
Paidir a trì, Paidir a ceithir,
Paidir a còig, Paidir a sia,
Paidir a seachd,
Aon sùil a thug an aire dhuit, [Ainm,]
Mar thionndaidheas a’ ghaoth air a’ chnoc,
Gu tionndadh an olc orra fèin.
Mar thionndaidheas a’ ghaoth air a’ chnoc,
Gu tionndadh an olc orra fèin.
Mar thionndaidheas a’ ghaoth air a’ chnoc,
Gu tionndadh an olc orra fèin.”
[“Pater of Mary 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
Whatever eye took notice of you, [Ainm,]
As the wind turns on the hillock,
May their evil turn on themselves.
As the wind turns on the hillock,
May their evil turn on themselves.
As the wind turns on the hillock,
May their evil turn on themselves.”]
2. “Eòlas a’ Bheim shùil le Ann Chaimbeil”
“Saltruighidh mis air an t-sùil mar a shaltruigheas Eala air Tigh nocht.
Ta neart gaoithe agam air, ta neart greine agam air,
Ta neart mhic Rìgh, neamh agus talmhainn agam air.
Trian air na clacha glasa – ’s trian air a’ mhuir mhòir as i fèin acfhuinn as fheàrr ga ghiùlan.
An ainm an Athar, a’ Mhic agus an Spioraid Naoimh,
Amen.”
[“I will stamp on the eyeas the swan on her house tonight. I have power of the wind over it, and I have power of sun over it, I have power of the Son of the King of heaven and earth over it. One-third on the grey stones – one third on the great sea, as being more able to bear it. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.”]
There is another way for protecting someone from the Evil Eye whereby someone says “Dia gad ghlèidheadh” ["God preserve you"] to someone milking their own cattle, and with them answering “Dia dhut fhèin” ["And God be with yourself."].
We shall carry on another time with "Charms against diseases of man". Do you have an enchantment, for protecting yourself? Do you know of anyone who protects, or who protected, themselves from the Evil Eye with a spell, charm, invocation or incantation of the likes above? Let us know on facebook, twitter and our own website!
