Eachdraidh-bheatha | Biography

Tena MacNeil Marley, a descendant of Barra immigrants, grew up in a household where Gaelic tradition was a natural part of daily life. She was the daughter of “Big” Frank MacNeil (1883–1961) and Mary Ann MacIntyre (1890–1974) of Beinn Eoin, Cape Breton County. Their home was a lively gathering place, where visitors could always expect to hear songs, stories, and the customs of the Gael.In 1939, Tena married Russell Earl Marley (1915–1993) of the Sydney area. Together, they had six children.
