Background info: The main goal of the Seanchas Ìle project was to collect, record, and preserve Islay’s rich Gaelic heritage for years to come. The material includes local stories, recollections of how Islay has changed over the years, proverbs, as well as historical information and testimonies of the lives of local people. Material was collected between 2005-2007. Transcriptions and accompanying translations for a limited amount of the collected audio recordings were published in 2007 as Seanchas Ìle (ISBN:978 1 906134 11 2)
