GF263i07 DÒMHNALL DHÒMHNAILL EÒIN AGUS AN CRODH

Beulaiche: Seonaidh mac Dhòmhnaill 'ic Dhòmhaill 'ic Fhilib 'ic Dhòmhnaill 'ic Chaluim | Johnny MacDonald

Bha fear ann an Christmas Island ris an canadh iad Dòmhnall Dhòmhnaill Eòin. [Dòmhnall Dhòmhnaill Eòin —yes] Ach dh'iarr e air a' chlann a dhol a dh'iarraidh a' chruidh—an crodh. Agus dh'fhalbh a' chlann a dh'iarraidh a' chruidh. Thàinig 'ad dhachaidh; thuirt 'ad nach d' fhuair 'ad idir iad…gu robh iad…nach robh sgial orra. "Uill," ars esan, "cha do shluig an talamh 'ad 's cha do thog a' ghaoth 'ad."

Donald, Donald John and the Cattle

There was a man in Christmas Island who was known as Donald, Donald John. [Donald, Donald John—yes] Anyhow, he asked the children to go for the cows—the cattle. And the children went for the cattle. They came home; they said they did not find them at all…that they were…there was no sign of them. "Well," he said, "the earth did not swallow them, nor did the wind take off with them!"
