Isabel (Bella) MacEachern, daughter of Hugh MacEachern and Isabel O’Handley, was born in Maple Brook, Nova Scotia, January 4, 1882 and passed away in Glendale in December, 1981.
She married Donald Angus MacEachern, and together they had a child who died in infancy, and a son, Patrick (Pàdruig Aonghuis Sìne), a renowned seanchaidh and Gaelic tradition bearer from Glendale.
Bella spent time working in Boston around the turn of the century, during an era when hundreds of Cape Breton Gaels lived and worked in the Boston States.
Known for her warm presence, Bella carried on Gaelic customs, including the art of reading tea leaves. She passed away in December 1981 and is buried in St. Mary of the Angels Cemetery.
