Sarah Agnes “Sadie” MacDonald was born on December 15, 1889 in Deepdale, Inverness County. She was the daughter of Angus and Theresa (Gillis) MacLellan. Her grandfather, Donald, hailed from Morar, Scotland. Sadie married William James MacDonald from Judique; the couple had no children. After William’s death in 1945, Sadie moved to Boston for work, where she stayed until her retirement. She then returned to Deepdale and lived with her sister, Mary Bell, and Mary’s husband, Malcolm Ross. Sadie’s brother was Angus ‘the Wheeler’ MacLellan, a notable figure in the area. She is fondly remembered as a talented Gaelic singer. Sadie passed away in 1980 and is laid to rest in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery, Judique.
