John Rory was from Kingsville, Inverness County. He was the oldest of 8 children born to Donald Rory MacDonald and Mary Catherine MacInnis. His grandfather Hugh MacDonald emigrated from South Uist to Princeville. John Rory was unmarried and lived at home. John Rory had a farm, did lumbering work and fished. He loved to play cards and share a Gaelic song or story. He is remembered in the community as a nice man with a sense of fun.
