Duncan Gillis | Donnchadh Dhòmhnaill Aonghais Bhàin was born on May 20, 1894, in Hawthorne, Inverness County, to Donald Gillis and Elizabeth Rankin. He married Margaret Isabel "Maggie Belle" MacDougall, and together they raised a family of ten.Duncan worked both in the local mines and away, providing for his family through hard labor. A talented singer with a keen sense of timing, he was well regarded for his musical ability.He passed away on July 31, 1981, and is laid to rest in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery in Port Hood.
