"This song was composed by the Editor of this work, when a youth going to college. It was written for amusement and as a means of thanking the owner of the horse for having kindly given him to the writer to go from Lochaber to Sherbrooke, a distance of about twenty-four miles. It was published in the Antigonish Casket in April 1862. “Grey Bill” belonged to Angus Stewart, Lochaber, Antigonish, and was really an excellent horse." |
