Notes 1 |
"Charles M‘Lean was the eldest son of John M‘Lean, the Poet. He was a man of intelligence, good sense, and Christian principles; and was held in the highest esteem by those who knew him. He was kind- hearted, and ever ready to sacrifice himself for the good of s. He inherited some of his father’s poetic talents. He was an elder in the Rev. D. B. Blair’s congregation. When this work went to press I cherished the hope that the best friend I ever knew would derive some pleasure from reading it. It was not however half through the press when death laid its cold hand upon him. He died June 27, 1880. He was born in Tiree, July 24, 1813. He was never married. He lived in Glenbard." |
