Notes 1 "There was a tailor working at Hugh MacLean's by name Donald Mac Donald he was also a blood doctor that is he used to take blood out of people for certain diseases. Hugh was away from home and a peddlar from Antigonish Angus Chisholm called there on his way north and the tailor was buying some articles and he told Chisholm he had no money on him there but would pay him on his back or leave the money there for him. When Hugh came home his wife told him about this so Hugh composed these verses."
