Notes 2 |
The metadata for the Cape Breton Gaelic Folklore Collection has been compiled from an index at St FX University and additional information was entered by volunteers during online transcription frolics in 2021. At the end of the Language in Lyrics project in March 2022, the metadata is still incomplete and it is hoped that further funding will be secured for a project dedicated to expanding the metadata and completing transcriptions for these songs. |

A boy and girl would walk home from school together. They decided one day to get married, but he needed to go away to work for seven years to earn enough money to wed. When he returned he was told that there was a dance that night for the woman he planned to marry was to be wed the following day. He went and that night when they were singing songs he made up and sang the following song. |
